advice:
1. Never, ever put a word in a graphic. Text is text. Graphics are graphics.
2. You have three seconds to convince a user not to use the Back button. Use
it wisely
3. You have 30 seconds to load everything on screen...Be very fast.
4. Sitewide navigation schemes must be consistent, intuitive, and highly comfortable
5. Internal interface conventions build trust with the user. Break one, and
you erode that trust.
6. Do something differently from everyone else only when there is a measurable
benefit
for doing so.
7. Design is not simply decoration, good design is problem solving.
8. You cannot tell how your Web site will look on other people's screens. There
are
literally millions of different possibilities.
9. Does the website answer the three fundamental questions?
Where Am I? What is here? Where can I go?
Websites are made up of three parts:
presentation: How the organization if presented visually to users (Designers).
structure:
How something is organized and optimized for ease of use and understanding
(Architects).
behavior: How those users then interact with the product and the product's resulting behavior (Engineers---Programmers).
