SITE BUILDING

what to do? cont...

6. colors.
•When deciding on what colors you will use, think about how well they will work with the goals of the site.
•do they exist in the 216 universal-color palette?
•In an old browser, will you be able to read the text, will there be enough contrast?

Using a limited pallete can go a long way. Don't feel like you have to use all 216 colors. When thinking about contrast with type and background, you may get to harsh an effect with directly contrasting colors, for example white on black can be glaring, but grey on black may be easier on the eyes. Of course, you can never go wrong with black type on a white background in terms of legibility.

7. Blank space is your friend. Eye relief is important, especially if there is text to read. Don't be afraid to leave space around images and text. Think about keeping things neat and uncluttered in your design and focus on getting just what you need to across.
