Bring Out Your Dead!!!

Are you a killer of plants? Do you see your latest casualty every day from the corner of your eye as it hauntingly decays upon your window sill? Give your plant a final resting place in a 44-year-old community garden located on the edge of Bed-Stuy and Clinton Hill. We invite the community to bring their desiccated greenery to any Winter Shack event at the Classon Ful-Gate community garden between February and March for interment and memorialization in The Dead Garden plant graveyard. to: We invite the community to bring their desiccated greenery to any Winter Shack event at the Classon Ful-Gate community garden between January 24th through March 28th for interment and memorialization in The Dead Garden plant graveyard.

The Dead Garden is a cemetery honoring the flora that we have failed to cultivate in our urban landscapes. Place your deceased green friend in a casket pot made from reclaimed lumber, or return it from whence it came with a burial in hallowed ground. Donors can honor their dearly departed household vegetation with identifying information about the plant and/or themselves.

The Dead Garden was first produced by Lara Bank for High Desert Test Sites, Wonder Valley, CA, March 2014.
